Who in the hell is Ryan Thompson?
This is the continued series titled – Who in the hell?” – Click here for the who, what, where, why and when regarding this series.

Combine the kindness of a little lamb with an occasional Mike Tyson’ish rage – bottled up especially for UK basketball – and it’s the perfect recipe for Ryan. I honestly don’t know how he does it…..this guy has a smile on his face 90% of the time. He can smell the perfect batch of bourbon from 3 miles away and would walk on his knuckles to have a sip. A consummate family man, quasi-nerd and all around good guy. This is Ryan Thompson.

Describe your job in a haiku.
Prose re: I.T. pros?
Hmmm…bring ‘em in, line ‘em up
I ain’t your pimp, hoes!
Who would you rather be, The Hulk or Aquaman. Why?
Tough one, but I’d have to say The Hulk
Pros for Aquaman:*He gets to bang mermaids (though I’m not sure if they have below-the-waste lady parts, so he may only get to 3rd base — still pretty cool) *He can communicate effectively with fish and mammals
Cons for Aquaman:*Can’t survive on land for very long, and his skin must be very wrinkly. *Based on the tights and gloves he wears, maybe he’s not into mermaids…..
Pros for The Hulk:*Can live a normal life if the anger management classes are effective. *Everyone would be overly nice so as not to piss him off.
Cons for The Hulk:
*Clothing bills have to be through the roof. *He’s a freak on almost all levels — even Bruce Banner was a basket case.

New company policy says you get to visit only ONE non-work related website per day..what do you choose and why?www.fark.com. I could get updates and opinions on politics, sports, news and entertainment in quick snippets on one site.
What’s the coolest job – besides this one – you’ve ever had and what made it so cool. I worked as a server at the Copper Cellar on campus at UT for five years. Restaurant lifestyle is the greatest because you work until about Midnight, bar hop after your shift until the bars close, blow all the cash you made, sleep until Noon the next day, and hang out on the couch until your shift at 4:00 PM. Repeat. Plus there was this really hot girl who would pick up all of the shifts I was too lazy to work. I married that girl.

Tomorrow your favorite band asks you to be their lead singer..who’s the band and would you take the job knowing you’d be on tour for a year or more but after you’d never have to work again? The Black Keys. Absolutely I would take the job. I could sacrifice one year away from my family if I never had to work again afterwards. Shit, I’d spend a year in the hot zone in Iraq if I made enough money to never have to work again.
What one thing would you change about your life?
My Mom’s passing two years ago.
Name one person that you’ve encountered in your job that’s made you see what you do in a different light? What did they do or say – please be specific. At the risk of sounding like a giant ass-kisser, I’d have to say Scott Gordon. Scott is very committed to his work and genuinely loves what he does. He’s continuously finding creative ways to learn new technology and recruiting tools to stay on top of his game. The people he works with have great respect for him because they know he’s the best in the business. S.W.A.K.

How would your parents describe you?
Funny, shy, stoic, caring, loyal, laid back. A good son and a better dad.
What’s the one piece of technology you could live without. Any children’s toy that makes obnoxious noises.
Which could you not live without? DVR.
You and your entire family get to live anywhere in the world. Where? Why there? What would you do to earn a living? Hendersonville, TN. We’re committed to raising our girls in an environment similar to the ones we grew up in: a close community with children of similar ages who they can play with a learn from. Plus, our families are close enough that our girls can develop strong relationships with them, which we’ve discovered over time is more important than just about anything else. I would be the lead singer of my favorite rock band for a year so I can live the rest of my life work-free.
